stream aux socket for ipod

Featured Replies

I read somewhere in here on how to fit an aux socket to a stream sound system for an ipod, and I can't find it via the search option. The owners manual says there is an aux facility and I have looked in the Jumbo box and elsewhwere to see if there is one already, and can't find it. I am assuming that there is a connection on the back of the radio, so I would like to know how to remove the radio and how to wire it. many thanks.

At the top of the jumbo box there's an aux jack point for an Ipod. You could also search for Dension on here too.

I must be blind, because I have just looked again and I can't see one. Where should I be looking precisely?

Depends what year your car is? The Aux socket hasnt always been available,

I presume your car is young enough to have one ? I could be wrong but I think it was 56 onwards. Lift the arm rest and there's a little tray right at the top with a black socket cover. It's there.

Mine is an 06 and there does not appear to be anything in the box. What is the next step?

If you only have the Stream radio (as opposed to the Stream MP3 that was fitted later) then I dont think Aux-In can be added. If you have the MP3 version then you can wire one in.

Have you any links to that? I have the stream MP3 head unit which I can select aux in but there's nothing wired in I assume, I don't have the jumbo box so I'm guessing I would need to go through the glove box? I'm not having much luck hunting for information on this as most references seem to be with Octavias and the jumbo box.

Good info, i dont have the aux socket in my jumbo either :-(

I've wired an Aux socket to the non mp3 stream head unit in my car - it switches into the feed from the CD changer. This won't work unless you have a CD changer though.

Would you be able to tell me how to do this? I am pretty sure you are describing the sound system in my car.

As an aside, what sort of fuel consumption do you get with your remapped 1.9 tdi?

Fuel consumption is about the same for normal driving, better than before if I drive for economy - I can hold 5th gear down to 25 mph and a bit worse if I start to push it on - on really twisty roads where you need the power out of the bends it's way faster but noticeably less economical. I still find it pretty much impossible to get it under 40mpg unless the trip is so short the engine gets nowhere near temperature (In which case it's not being driven hard anyway).

As for fitting the aux in to the radio, have a look at post 12 here: http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/158518-octy-upgrade-advice/page__p__1953830entry1953830

There's a post I put up months ago on the same subject with some wiring info as well, but it didn't pop up in the search.

I bought the fittings from Maplins today. The two pole four way switch has a part number of FH08J and is called a 4 pole toggle changeover switch. Total cost was about £7. Now I just need to get out there and get on with it.
