Oil and filter change on 2.0i without jacking car up?

Hi.

I was thinking if anybody here knows is it possible to change the oil filter on said engine without removing the bottom protective metal plate?

I can see the filter from the front looking down and I believe it would be easy to take it off. What worries me is putting it back in its place. Can it be done just so simply or do I really need to take off that damn bottom plate to get to change the filter.

I was hoping to change the oil with a suction pump, not by having to drain the thing from the bottom.

Is it un-adviceable to proceed with my plan?

you can change the oil filter from the top of the car...the space is tight,but is enough

I think you really need to let the oil drain from the sump plug to get rid of all the sludge and other debris. Syphoning takes out the oil but leaves the crap behind.

Hmm. Yeah, I didn't think of that. I guess I'll try to find a place to get the car up. If it's not available I guess it's still better to change the oil than not to :wonder:

You won't get sludge if you'll use good oil,no matter how you change the oil,drain or sucked.

I use Liqui Moly 5W40 and the engine is very clean inside,I noticed when I changed the gasket
