Fabia Elegance 1.2 TSI DSG

Featured Replies

Thanks for your earlier comments. The new one is now on order, with the sports suspension option :D . I drove a fabia with sport suspension which I was impressed with. Not the sharpest of tools but better than my old Octavia and still giving a good quality ride. The car I took out was a 1.4 TDI and i was surprised at, although quite torquey, how harsh, noisy and underpowered it was. I am confident based on the Yeti forum threads that the 1.2 should deliver on both refinement and punch so it's time to sit and wait for at least 8 weeks and possibly up to 12 :(

Brave man.

I still want to see the facelifted Fabia in the flesh and try out the 1.2TSI engine. Plan to see one tomorrow or Wednesday and hope to drive a 1.2TSI Yeti tomorrow. Then the only decision will be sports suspension or not. I don't want it to wallow round corners but I don't want to feel potholes either.

There is recent test report on the www.auto.cz web site of a 1.2TSI Octavia. They were impressed with the engine's performance, reporting only that on long hills did you require to change down one or two gears to maintain speed .(thanks to google's translator). For fuel consumption they got 55mpg at100km/h, 43.8 at 130km/h and overall, with 3 adults on boardt 47mpg overall. The Octavia weighed 1270kg, so it should be great with 100kg less weight to move.

It appears it still hasn't yet been ordered. Took a call from the dealer who hasn't been able to order because the code for the lowered suspension wasn't on the system. On contacting Skoda UK he was told they don't know why and said they will contact the factory. After calling the SUK on a further couple of days was told they still didn't have an answer and they would call him when they resolved it. Fingers crossed for tomorrow. At this rate it could be August (usually ~8 weeks but there is a further 4 week delay on the 1.2TSI DSG due to demand, although they're looking at stepping up production, apparently...) when I'm due to get it, it will be almost worth waiting for the new reg in September!!

There is a road test of the Fabia Combi 1.2TSI DSG on the Czech web site auto.cz

The overall test score was very good and a google translation will give an idea about what the scores refer to. There is an error in the overall score as they have omitted a score for ease of gearchange as it is an automatic. True overall score should be around 8.7 which is higher than that awarded to the 1.2TSI Yeti.

The magazine has a comrehensive list of road tests..For comparisons of other test scores go here.

Did you look at the pictures?

I thought the gear stick looked a bit odd: more like the tiptronic one, rather than the 7speed DSG stck in other models
