Back to Skoda with a vrs estate

Featured Replies

After having an Octavia GLX TDI then changing to a Seat Toledo TDI Sport 150, I'm now back to Skoda with a silver 56 plate Octavia VRS estate - I really enjoyed the Seat but with the arrival of a new pup I really needed something with a suitable boot for the pup while maintaining the same attributes I enjoyed in the Seat. The Octavia VRS estate was the obvious choice but I was initially put off by the high boot lid and large lip as my last dog didn't like this on the Octavia hatch. I hunted for a while but really couldn't find much that was suitable, many hatches didn't have boots the dog would have been happy with (he likes to look out the window) and most estates seemed to be practical but not sporty unless going to a bigger size which I didn't want. I came very close to buying an Audi A3 S-line Quattro special edition Sportback which had a more suitlable boot for a hatch but I had a hard time essentially forking out so much for the Audi badge (which didn't appeal to me at all) and then the car failed an HPI check (DVLA fault).

Eventually I found out about the variable boot floor for the Octavia and after some patience (some of the Skoda dealers here seem suprisingly uninterested in selling cars) a three year old model with 20K on the clock came up within 100 miles so I've gone for it. I came very close to buying a much newer model which was very tempting but I couldn't justify the money which I'd prefer to spend on cameras/laptops ;) All going well so far, it's great being able to just chuck the dog in the boot especially as he's taken to going though muddy pools recently.
