Hesitancy under acceleration...

Featured Replies

SWMBO has an A3 1.8T which uses the 150 bhp AGU motor. Now for the last couple of months I've noticed a slight hesitancy under load. It's quite intermittent and occurs at any engine speed / temp etc and usually lasts a second or so.

The plugs were changed about 6k miles ago, I've just cleaned the MAF and replaced the DV for good measure. VAG-COM hasn't flagged up any error codes. Anyone any ideas?

Anyone........??? :(

I would say my Octavia suffers from that all the time. Floor-it, seems to start accelerating, but doesn't, waits, then the revs start to rise. It is very noticeable in 2nd, say when waiting for an overtaking opportunity and hanging in 2nd gear at 30mph, quickly flooring it then will result it a definate pause immediately after the first "lets-Go" response.

You could try resetting the throttle body, mine was a bit poorley even after a service. A quick throttle body alignment and she's going great now.

Can be done via vagcom or the boot open pat your tummy method.

or the boot open pat your tummy method.

Not sure that applies to AGU engines...

Hi mate, will keep you posted. The dealer took a printout of the error code so at least they have a record of it when my car gets booked in.

Update: Fuel Regulator valve replaced.

I can't remember what the original error code was, but apparently the fuel regulator valve is suspect if your car has these symptoms and all hoses and conections are ok.

Now getting worse. Still no fault codes showing up on VAG-COM and still very intermittent. Might be worth changing the Fuel Reg Valve. Anyone with ETKA have a part # and price if possible?

Bloody Audis......

Just to add when I originally ran VAG-COM after the problem occurred I got the following fault code:

Chassis Type: 8L - Audi A3/S3

Scan: 01,02,03,08,15,17,22,35,37,45,54,55,56

Address 01 -------------------------------------------------------

Controller: 06A 906 018 AQ

Component: 1.8L R4/5VT MOTR HS D03

Coding: 04000

Shop #: WSC 06313

1 Fault Found:

16885 - Vehicle Speed Sensor: Implausible Signal

P0501 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

Readiness: N/A

As mentioned previously I cleared this code at the time and it hasn't re-occurred even though the symptoms are getting worse.
