07 vRS SE

Featured Replies

Hi

long story short... looked at fabia vRS as an option a few years back, plumped for a mondy tdci instead... now im back looking at the vRS again.

Found an 07 SE with 37k on the clock for 8995, dealer has offered me a change price of 7k ( mondy is an 03 tdci 130 lx with 74k )

I've searched and read all the various guides ( door seals and wot not ) so all im really looking for is your opinions on the price, unless there is something obvious i might have missed??

Drove it this afternoon and all seems well, very clean car ( few marks on the leather in the back seat , and a VERY small mark on the bonnet aside ) 2 local owners

Thanks for your time.

A soon to be vRS SE owner ( i hope )

having looked at the skoda website I thought it was priced quite well!!!

Not keen on buying from the 'bay so ruling that out, what have I got to negotiate with considering that I've been keeping an eye out for Fabia's for about 6 months now and I can count on one hand the number that I've considered suitable that have been available... the price is with 6 months tax, and I will ask for the m.o.t to be renewed in July in with the price.

Another thing I meant to ask about, the timing belt, is it 4 years and 60k?? or 4 and 40k?

Cheers for ya help

Obviously don't buy it from eBay, but contact the seller go view it and see if it's legit... as you would as a private sale... offer a good amount!

You will save at least £1000...

It's 4 years OR 60k - whichever comes first. So your going to pay for that in a years time regardless...

Look on AutoTrader and you'll think he's got a bargain. Cheapest is £8790, but from there they go up to £10,995.

But then the Autotrader prices are frankly ridiculous!

Well i spoke to him again today and the price of 7k to change sticks

getting years warranty, m.o.t, 2 x new tyres on the rear, tax till november, service is due in about 3k so he reckons that will get done.

Not bad methinks.

pistonheads is another good place to look

Just remembered

when i switch the ignition on a noise, which can only be described as whooshing/gurgling happens for a second. I'd made the assumption that it was the fuel pump ( dunno how i came to this thought.. just did :giggle: ) does this sound.... right?

That sounds right, although mine only makes the noise when there's about half a tank or less showing.

First time I heard the sound after collecting the car, I thought something was broken!

ah thats alreet then.

It's sitting just below the quarter tank mark so that would explain that.

cheers.

personaly that sounds ok to me, 7k is a bit steep but with all the extras hes giving you it sounds fair, a good tip is to put him in a tight spot and ask for some mats! hehe :giggle: and yeh make him do the service and if your woried about anything dont be afraid to point it out. also a cheeky thing is to ask if its being fully valeted before he hands it over. Thats how i got my mom a good deal on her new KA, the bloke was giving me stuff to stop me hagleing! :rofl:B)

It's not just about saving money though, personally I would pay more to buy from a dealer because of the warranty. I don't think I would ever buy from Ebay or privately unless I knew the seller, I don't know enough about cars to spot a lemon. My loss when it comes to getting a bargain, but my choice.

yeh at least you have a warenty to cover you, private is your own risk because there is nothing like the lemon law they have in amerika to protect you over here

yeah you ever tried claiming from a dealers extended warranty??

its not worth the paper its written on!! nothing is covered and you usually have to pay first then claim back later! ive been stung twice this way! im never buying from a stealer again, id rather buy private and get a good deal :)
