electric mirror weirdness

Featured Replies

evening all......

i just discovered that when i try to adjust my right electric mirror, the left adjusts too, both horizontally and vertically. If i adjust the left, it moves on it's own.

I'm guessing the switch is fubar and that the door card is going to have to come out to replace it. Anybody got any thoughts on the matter ?

There's an option in the Maxidot menus to allow you adjust them separately.

i'm just one of those p1ss p00r lesser beings with a sh1tty classic and no maxidot. when you adjust the right mirror inwards the left does the same ... i'm thinking there is a short in the switch ... anybody got any experience of this ?

well it's never done it before.

It IS normal it is so if your wife etc moves your seat you can adjust both mirrors together < great Idea >

ok ..... i've owned the car for 3 years and i cant say i've ever seen it do that before. I suppose you learn something new every day. thanks.

Mine dont move both. Whats the point of a left and right selector if they going to move both mirrors?!

The right side moves both mirrors, and the left only moves the left, so really what's the deal, move the right into your preferred potion, and then do the left on its own.

My Audi does it, as does the Skyline GTR I had a track day in the other week...its a common thing.

So they do, just been out and had a look.

so you are suggesting that my car is getting less faulty ...cool if that's the case, perhaps by the time it's 4yo the pd engine wont sound like a bag of spanners, the suspension will be smooth, and actually absorb stuff and the road noise will be so unobtrusive that i wont consider drilling out my own eardrums just for some peace and quiet emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

You sett right one then the left and as someone has said before leave it , but if your wife etc moves the seat it is easy job to adjust the mirrors

If you haven't got maxidot you can get this option turned off by your dealer. I've always found it a rather useful feature myself.

I had my o6 plate 1.9 tdi classic for 3 and half years and i would have said that both mirrors move separate and too with my FL 59 plate, however i have just gone and tried and your all right, they do move together. I would have never accepted it so i can understand the original posters opinion..

I should have known better than to question the experts on here!!

I know I'm digging up a old post but we have established that they both move together when on the (Right) adjustment notch. Mine do also move together but the right one doesn't move at the same rate as the left ? so its always cockeyed. ? could it be the motor going on the left side?

But on the L&K, the mirrors auto-dip on reverse! Sorry all you Classic, Ambiente & vRS boyz!! emoticon-0110-tongueout.gif

It's only the passenger one that moves so you can see where the kerb is. Jolly handy, I can tell you. ;)
