Has the phone been activated yet?

What version of iTunes have you got and what OS are you running on?

I'm assuming it's a 3Gs as it's a new one or have you settled for a 3G?

iTunes isn't setup to sync to Outlook or anything like that is it? Or is it failing to recognise the iPhone in iTunes?

it recognises the iphone but thats it dunno how do i tell about the syncing?

Click on the iPhone in the left hand panel of iTunes and then click on the info tab in the main window. This shows you what iTunes is attempting to sync to. It should show you if it's attempting to sync to Outlook, Google etc.

It's a horrible piece of software that I hate with a passion but there's not really a lot of choice when syncing an iPhone...

its so wierd i read on internet to sync on another pc then eject and put on mine and it works, but screw doing that all the time, it seems to be something with windows 7 because both other pcs are vista and they work fine

I have a Windows 7 PC I can try it on later (assuming the multiple computer trick works on Windows 7) but I normally use Mac OS (my laptop) and XP (work laptop). I would be amazed stunned if iTunes doesn't work on Windows 7 though...

iTunes runs fine on my win7 64bit install

Just upgraded to the lasted version. Appears to fix the sync problem.
