ET37 vs ET45 wheels

Featured Replies

I don't understand much of the offset of wheels apart from what I just read in that link.

From the Yeti wheel guide I see most Yeti wheels are ET45 or ET50. And mine will be ET45 on the Elegance.

My question: would ET37 wheels be OK on a Yeti?

Depends on wheel width as that also plays a big part in the ET of a wheel.

Thanks for moving it to the right forum! I did not realise I was in the technical guide section when I switched the computer on and just posted.

The wheel size is 7J 16 ET37 wheels. And the Elegance is 7J 17 ET45 with 7J 16 ET45 spare. Would they fit or is that 8mm difference going to cause a problem?

They only way to find out is to try fitting them CAREFULLY and see if anything fouls or touches, but remember to check on FULL suspension movement and steering too.

I would be careful about the possibility that, even if they fit, this might be taken as a good reason for a void warranty (as it doesn't fit with the specifications of the vehicle).

If I remember correctly the 37 would protrude less than the 45 or 50; in this case if you really want to fit those wheels I may suggest to look for the "thickening" parts (I don'tknow the name in english) that sit between the car attachment and the wheel.

They are vey much used in the "mods" market, but in your case they may bring the vehicle back in the "specs" rather that out of them, as it usually happens with mods.

Thanks. I was looking at buying these:

But by the time my friend replied with this answer below they were sold! Pah!

"I had to Google a bit but the offset difference means that the wheel sits 8mm further out than the 7J16 ET45s do. i.e. the centre line of the wheel sits further out and so the track is increased by 16mm. However as the 17" rims get 225 tyres and the new 16"s are 205s. That means that the 17" tyres are already 10mm further out than the spare and with these new tyres the difference will only be 2mm. So you should have no problem..."

If those wheels are off a mkI octavia they wouldn't fit your snow monster anyway as they will be 5x110 and not 5x112.
