Tow bar for 1.9 Tdi Sport

Featured Replies

Hi guys looking for some advice , can you fit a towbar to a MK2 Fabia Sport without cutting the bumper ? I would prefer a fixed swan neck if it can be fitted without cutting

The bumper stretches right down and meets the rear floorpan, so its not going to be possible.

The OE Skoda ones have a detachable towhook and you fit a removeable 'hatch' in the bumper. Its not really noticeable during normal use. I have done this myself and the outcome is a very tidy installation. Let me know if you need more assistance.

Thanks for your reply since posting the original question I have discovered that there is a removable hatch where the towbar would bolt on so I should be able to fit a detachable towbar ok , just need to source one somewhere cheaper than Skoda . Do you know if I need a dedicated wiring kit for the Fabia 2 or can the 12n wiring be just attached via connectors in the boot

I managed to get a brand new OE Skoda detachable towbar off Ebay for about £50 - quite a bargain.

I purchased an electrical kit from the dealer - it was about £67. V. expensive for what is basically the electrical coupling and some connectors which mate with the rear lamp connectors. The Fabia does not have multiplex wiring, so if you are neat and tidy with the electrical work you should be able to do a good job by just splicing into the exisisting electrics.

Again many thanks for that information about the wiring I shall attempt to wire into the boot with normal quality connectors or I may solder them , Now just to find a cheap detachable towbar on E-bay
