found out what that knocking noise was

on saturday i took SWMBO and her mom to Merry Hell so they could get some crimbo shopping done. on the way the car started that knocking noise again when i pulled off but there was another noise when changing gear and accelerating again. it deffinately sounded like something was loose.

anyway got to merry hell and popped the bonnet. first thing i saw was the alarm siren was hanging funny and rubbing against the engine cover. the screw holding the bracket had vibrated loose and as a result the siren was hitting the engine cover by the recirc valve when gravity insisted it moved.

popped the engine cover off and dropped it in the boot, took the siren off and tightened the screw then popped the siren back on. hey presto, bodged in place till i could sort it properly when i got back home.

on the way back i stopped at halfrauds for some self tappers and loack tight. found the screws i wanted but couldnt find said sealant so after being told by youth in halfrauds uniform that they didnt sell it i decided to have a better look round the shelves.

right at the back of the shop i found the worlds biggest selection of locktight products ever and the stuff i wanted. (didnt know you could get it in pritstick form as well now). anyway couldnt find the youth to let him know how crap he was at his job so paid and went home.

had breakfast, took the dog out then washed the car before i got under the bonnet again... its all solid and secure now though. its marked the engine cover and cracked the plastic a little though... maybe i need a carbon cover now !?
