Featured Replies

Hi, need some help, got a scanner off ebay, said it would scan skoda's but I can't get the thing to connect, feel like i'v wasted £40. Anyone know how to get this thing running, this is what i'v tryed so far

PC has virus scanner turned off

Open software

click connect using k-line and nothing will not connect

Ignition is turned on

Connected using correct comm port

All i can get it to do is read the ID and thats all it reads off a skoda octavia, will not do anything else, stupid pile of rubbish

link to ebay so we can see what you got, maybe someone will have the same one

But when something does go wrong, at least you have the support to fall back on, plus a lot of these none genuine cables, linked with the unlicensed version of VCDS do not give you the full access to everything which the licensed copies get!

I have the ross tech one, and a mate has the cheap ebay one. Every time he does a scan, it will only show him one fault code at a time, and he has to fix that before he can get another. Meaning a lot more work! And to make it worse, he only works on VW's! He now calls me from time to time to go and help him!

As to the OP's original post, does it connect properly? can you read the fault codes?

Unless you have purchased the software from Ross Tech the most you can really use it for is checking/clearing fault codes and a couple of other things.

Well, if all he does is work on VW's it seems a bit short sighted of him to not have bought the genuine ross tech one.

I, on the other hand, only use it on my car and a couple of mates cars so a non genuine one is perfectly fine for me.

I do not need to do anything more indepth than measure blocks/clear fault codes/fiddle with adaptations which mine does perfectly well :)

You haven't bought VagCom - you've bought something completely different.

What you need to do is download the shareware version of VagCom (now known as VCDS Lite) and hope it works with your lead

Here is the link http://www.ross-tech.com/vcds-lite/download/index.html

You have wasted your money. You've bought a chinese clone of a very expensive piece of extremely complicated software.
