Fabia II FL Sport spec

Featured Replies

After a visit to my dealer last week, I go figures on an SE spec 1.2 TSI 105bhp Fabia. He then mentioned that there is a Sport spec coming along, but they didn't have price or spec information yet. I'm holding off my order until I know what's what about the car.

What I currently know: The Sport is due to start build in late May, price still unknown, but will be released "soon"

What I'm hoping for: sporty bumpers, 16's, sport suspension, fogs, sport seats and a leather wheel. If it's only £700 or so above an SE, that would be grand :)

Here's the Czech version, I really like it (maybe more than the vRS!), especially the 17in Trinity wheels: http://www.skoda-auto.cz/cze/model/newfabia/equipment/pages/sportline.aspx

I know I cannot afford a new vRS, but if the 1.2 TSI is as impressive as the reviews say, this would be pretty good fun. More along the lines of a Swift Sport that's cheaper to run.

The Golf with the 1.2tsi engine and 6 speed gearbox is reviewed in this month's WhatCar. The engine is generally praised, but also the car posted sub-10 second 0-60 and 30-70 times, which suggests the lighter Fabia may be even quicker. I suspect the official 10.1 time is cautious given the amount and spread of torque available.

I agree, I think they've just given it the same performance figures as the old 1.6 for marketing reasons as they still sell the 1.6 in some countries and probably want to shift these old engines!

I hope Skoda UK keep the new Sport spec the same as the European sport spec (ie. sports seats, no sports body kit and Trinity wheels) The Trinitys aren't even available as an option here on the rest of the range.

Think I read somewhere that the Polo 1.2 TSI has a 0-100 kmh time of 9.6 so I suppose the Fabia should be the same.

Skoda do seem fairly conservative with their performance figures. I'm sure I heard years ago that they did the performance tests with 2 people and a full tank of fuel on board. Not sure if that's true.

If it's similar to the Polo's times (and I'd expect it to be TBH) then it will have about the same performance as my 2 litre Coupe :o and it's not a million miles away from the Swift Sport either!

I am coming around to the 17's. I was of the opinion that they would be too big, but they should be fine, and they do look good! I am hoping the price will be right, which will be between the SE and Elegance.

EDIT: having a play with the configurator on the Czech site, the Sportline is between the SE and Elegance price. Looking promising!

Just seen some internet prices of £10100 for the SE and £11100 for the Elegance 1.2 TSI.

Skoda still has the VAT free offer running until the end of June too.

If £700 would be grand, give me a grand and I will give you the £700 straight back!!! :giggle:
