What do we think of this one?

http://pistonheads.com/sales/1692212.htm

There are some funny words/things missing in my opinion...

Like "COMPUTER" on its own in the description and the fact he has performance breaks and springs but no Remap?

sounds ok, think its just a grammar thing tho. bout this one

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250626993449&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

What do you make of the computer bit? Means remap but listed it wrong? or in car sat nav? Sorry, I couldn't live with yellow lol. Has to be black.

BTW is it just me but do all vRS's live up North? Because I live in Dorset and have not seen one on the road! In fact the only one I have seen was in Bognor!

are you looking to spend around the 3k marker are you mate :smirk:

if you called pull lots more out , richs is selling his A1 black octy , its on here but is not cheap.

or you could mug him

as for that red lol i hope mines worth one milion dollars then :giggle:

They probably mean the trip computer, you don't get those on the really basic trim levels of the Octavia, just a clock.

I don't see any problem with having brakes and suspension uprated before a remap - in fact thats the most sensible way to do it!

All you'd have to do is add the downpipe and sports cat part of the exhaust, ebay intercooler and custom map it and you would have a fairly sorted VRS.

How much would it cost to get it to that point?

BTW "BLUEFLAME CAT BACK SYSTEM" is it a good exhaust or not? All I know is milltek.

For those three bits (rest of exhaust, ebay intercooler and custom map) probably about a grand altogether.

Blueflame exhausts are good and many owners on here have them but the car as it is only has the cat-back section of the exhaust fitted which is the cheaper part and doesn't give much in terms of gains, so you would need to get the matching downpipe and sports cat (or decat) pieces to complete it before getting a custom map to make full use of it.... or you could get a Milltek downpipe and sports cat, as long as the pipework is the same diameter.

Well, it's LEFT hand drive, perhaps they've become very collectable in Europe?

I've been driving around Germany for the last week & vRS seem to outnumber Golf GTIs in the East.

I can only assume he's (naively) paid far more than UK market value for the car & is looking to make his money back,

exchange rates can be cruel.

Looking at the grammar in the advert, I'm summising it's written by someone who speaks English as a second language.

I notice it didn't sell & has been relisted, how many times will they do that I wonder?.

agreed something not right 3 different ads all using the same pics. top 2 ads using outside pics and the top n bottom using same interior shot :thumbdown:

Thanks :), I am thinking about the remap but then again thinking just get use to it first. Dad booted it for me on the motorway and gawd it was quicker than I thought! The big thing that surprised me was how economical it kept getting! It went from 22.1 to 37.8 MPG and we drove from Reading to Bournemouth for over an hour an a half and the needle barely moved.

Looks well for the year, enjoy it :)

Yep you'll find if you fill the tank then do a motorway run you can do over a hundred miles before the needle even moves past the first marker  but it goes down a lot quicker once it's under half a tank :(

After 2 years of ownership I still scare myself at how fast mine can be, so for me a remap seems a bit pointless.

Come on... you must be a little curious as to how your car would go with a map...

You know you want too ;)

You fitted your rack yet?

Not really. I've driven Simons and Daryls cars both with 210bhp generic remaps and while they were undeniably faster than mine I don't reckon they'd be more than a couple of car lengths in front of mine if you put them side by side. Even if mines high bhp for standard I don't think it would be "even higher" with a remap if you know what I mean. Besides I'd want a custom map so would have to find the £1500 to spend on things like an exhaust and intercooler first... if I just got a £300 generic map I'd be kicking myself afterwards :wait: :S

Not fitted the rack as I haven't really had time... its now sat in the garage for over a year :D may be selling it to another member on here soon though

Good argument. It is a slippery slope when you start modifiying :) Best to avoid it if your still enjoying the car as it is now.

I wish i drove mine more often. The only time i do is either doing the shopping which means driving slow (no one wants broken eggs do they) or to my workshop to do more bits to it. Think we should just swap, lol.
