MFD3 Problem

Featured Replies

I had a new aerial and amp fitted last week, as I kept loosing radio reception the radio would just start to get interference and then the sound would disappear, even when sitting still listening to it, change to another station and things back to normal

What could be wrong now, I have checked all connections on the back of the unit,

If there is something wrong internally would a skoda dealer swap it,t even though bought off ebay, or could I get it checked over somewhere

date on the production sticker 2009

Skoda dealer wont do anything, except sell you a new one at full price!

Have you had VCDS on it to check for any codes? Cold be a fault in the cable from the roof to the MFD?

I know that most dealers would not exchange it but one can live in hope one may from the second hand stock on display

In the past I have had radios that have an Aeriel tuning screw on the back does the MFD have one???

Where can you get them repaired if faulty???

I think you need the aerial spliiter thingy. The MFD3 has 2 aerial inputs, but your car only has a single aerial feed.

The aerial inputs on the MFD3 are designed so they work as a diversity function, in that there is a primary and secondary aerial input. In areas of poor reception and only one input connected, it can result in loss of reception as the radio switches to the other antenna input (which has nothing connected currently) to attempt to get better reception. The system wont switch back to the primary one (since it thinks both have poor reception) unless you change radio station and back again.

To get over this you can fit a splitter that takes the single aerial feed and inputs it to both MFD3 inputs.

There is a link on the forum to one on ebay, but I cant find it at the moment, or there is kufatec.

Wasn't this one off ebay??

I seem to recall a whole raft of threads about your quest for a MFD3. If it was, what about the retailer?
