Hi

I hope someone can help me?

I drove over a speedbump earlier this evening and heard a grinding noise and something metallic either fell off from under my Fabia or I just drove over something metallic already on the speedbump. I have posted (hopefully) a picture of the part below. If not then I hope the link will show you the photo!

There doesn't appear to be any unusual noise coming from under the car but I wonder if someone could tell me what the part it and how I can fix it?

looks like the cover from the exhaust or cat has rusted off and fallen off.

Think it would be the cat cover too, unless you have tinnnyyy exhaust..!

No it doesn't sound tinny. Is it safe to drive without it?

I am not completely sure, but think it's a heat shield for a part of the cat. Don't drive in tall and dry summer-grass without it, but otherwise you'd be fine if that's it.

Not sure if it'll affect the result of the MOT. Here in Denmark, I won't pass inspection without it. But maybe it can be welded on?

Its the exhaust shield, DOes the car run ok now? Its just on the heatshield is the lambda probe hole and for the shield to come off i would have thought it would have snapped the wires to the probe?
