I have finally finished specing the car that I want, and have been to a dealer, and have found that it also now withing budget (within £4.00!!)

My problem is that I did not have enough time to test drive it whilst I was at that particular dealer, and my local dealer only has a 3 year old model.

I therefore need to find a dealer in either London/Herts, Birmingham or Norfolk area who might hvae one.

Anybody got any ideas.

The dealer was happy for me to drive the 3 year old model, but was concerned that it would not drive the same. What do people reckon. Could I get a good feel of what the car would be like if I drove this older model??

At the dealers this morning he told me that the new lead time for an L&K is up to four months, and I really want it in time for my birthday in August.

Try Palmers Skoda in Watford. I have just ordered a vRS DSG Estate from them. They have a vRS DSG hatch as a demonstrator, and, with the same wheelbase and overall length as the estate, test driving that shouldn't be any different from the estate.

They're a very helpful bunch. Ask for Stuart or Jay.

Palmers is where I went. Strangely enough I test drove a DSG there four years ago, before they even opened.

They do have an L&K and this is the one that is three years old that he is not sure I will get the best from (although he is happy for me to drive it)

The problem with the VRS is that it is a 170 and the L & K is a 140.

The three year old one should give you a pretty good indication. Mechanically it will be the same as one you order today although the interior will be a bit different and obviously, being three years old it'll be run in

the 3 year old one wont be a vRS though as that was only introduced on the CR TDi on a 58 plate, I know cos I own one
