Bluetooth on manual VRS

Featured Replies

Have ordered a new FL VRS and having read the changes to the bluetooth after week 22 I am tempted by it (need to check my build date first). But I am not getting DSG so will not have the multifunction steering wheel. Without the multifunction wheel can you still get access to voice recognition? I know you can control using the Bolero but was wondering if there is a button on the Bolero that then allows you to control it via voice commands. Looking for someone who has the bluetooth on a manual VRS and finding out about your experiences with it.

Sorry I may have confused things here. I am looking at voice control over the bluetooth only and not the stereo functions. What I was wondering was if you could still get access to the voice control/activation on the bluetooth if you do not have the multifunction wheel. I was wondering if there was a button on the bolero or maybe maxidot that starts the voice activation/control on the bluetooth.

In that case... nope - you'd need a MFSW for Bluetooth voice control.

...a Columbus has the button you need, not that you asked about a Columbus!

Thats dissappointing as access to voice control would have made the system very useable without the MFSW with the new functionality. Can not see why they have not got an activation button on the Balero. Is this some sort of anti manual thinking here!!!!!!

My dealer said it could be ordered with a manual vrs just not with the MFSW.

It wasn't a factory fit option when I ordered the car, and I also wasn't aware it had changed... Do you have that in writing?

The current brochure says DSG only for bluetooth with MFSW which was what it said when I ordered mine and when I queried it, the dealer said Bluetooth was only available on the DSG... He did at least have the decency to agree with me that was a stupid decision by Skoda UK

Not in writing so will have to check it out further with them.

Sorry to hijack this, but I have posted elsewhere, and I haev still not had full confirmation.

I want to have bluetooth in my new car, and the dealers keep telling me that all I need is the steering wheel.

People keep mentioning on here that they do order 'bluetooth' but I am not sure what I need to tell the dealer to add to the car.

Help please. I dont want to make a mistake and order the car, and then find I dont have the option.

I am so surpsied that the dealers dont know. Is it such a minimal requirement for people?

thnaks.

I have the OEM blue tooth on my NON FL vRS which was purchased as part of a group buy on here a few years ago.

Although there is no voice activation, it integrates very well and is quite simple to operate via the buttons on the end of the right-hand stalk. As it's GSMII it works fine with an iPhone too.

They can be bought off flea bay and it's not a particularly difficult retro fit providing you're not a complete numpty with the contents of a toolbox. You do need to get someone with VAG COM to programme the car so it knows b/t is installed.

Having said all that, it is hard to fathom the logic in Skoda UKs' decision to supply b/t on DSG cars only and no mfsw as an option for the manual vRS. I sent them an email about it and just got the standard "thanks for contacting Skoda . . . . . . ." email in return.

Still if enough people moan to them about it, maybe they'll pull their finger out and give customers what they want . . . . . . hang on . . . . .just glanced out the window and saw a squadron of pigs flying overhead :giggle:
