Auto dipping wing mirror when parking?

Featured Replies

Hi.

Having read the manual I believe that there should be an option to have the passenger side wing mirror dip when reversing but I can't find it in the options in maxidot.

Found everything else but this!

Anyone else have this issue or know where to find it? Car is 10 plate vRS.

Thanks.

I believe it used to be an option on the Elegance & L+K with (bizarrely) the electrically adjustable seats, but it's not an option even now.

You don't have that option... It is not available on the vRS :(

That'll explain why I can't find the option then!

Seems odd that Skoda haven't made it available on the vRS as if you have electric adjustable mirrors (as all Octavias have I believe), you should be able to have this option!

Oh well, never mind!

I have it, but it only works with the switch on the driver's door in the " L" position. :wonder:

I'm pretty sure it's only available on the cars with electrically adjustable seats with memory, so the car knows where to put the mirror back to after it's dipped...

Forgot to try this out on the Octy but i have this on the Golf, to use it wasn't well explained in the Golf manual, but here's how:

With engine running, select reverse

Move the mirror adjustor to L position

Adjust mirror to see kerbs etc.

Turn mirror adjustor back to middle position -- the mirror should return to normal position

Deselect reverse

Once you've done that, just leave the mirror selector on L, it wont work otherwise.

When testing you need to reset the mirror adjuster to the middle position, because just deselecting reverse wont revert the mirror straight away, there's a time delay of around 30 secs, i guess so it's not constantly dipping and reverting as you manoeuvre back and forth into a space getting the car straightened. The golf doesn't have maxidot equiv and there was nothing to enable, it just worked.

Will try my Octy today.

Doesn't seem to be setup on mine

That really sucks just as much as no folding mirrors on the vrs!

I'm sure this worked when I first got my vRS in March, but it doesn't any more. Will try Mute's suggestion above.

Agreed, i have this feature on my L&K because it has the electric memory seats and the car needs the memory seats fitted so it knows where to adjust the mirror back to when you have finished. Where fitted, the mirror will go back to pre-set position when you change the switch position, turn the ignition off or move forward and exceed 20 km/h.
