interior lights not working

Featured Replies

Guys, reading many posts and others re this has me a tad worried, just picked up a 58 plate, less than 3000 on the clock, hardly been used, but the interior lights, map lights, vanity mirror lights and boot light aren't working, this is on any setting on the switch, not on opening with the remote etc, the door ajar warning symbol lights up ok when the doors are opened, the rears work on the switch, whether they come on with the others i don't know, as i've never seen them working..now as my car is only just 18 months old, would this still be covered by the manufacturer's warranty?? i feel after just 18 months, this should not be a problem yet...i'm guessing it is the dreaded water, or even just pants wiring...all help would be appreciated, regards Mark

to the mods, i have more or less posted this same question on one of the pinned posts at the top of the forum here, pls feel free to delete that one if you so wish to keep things tidy!! ta

Essential that you take the car back for warranty work. Good luck, the dealer "should" know exactly what to do to sort this out for you.

Went to the dealer today, woman was helpful if not a tad aloof!! explained that I had the problem and told her i knew of the wiring problems with the superb....she replied that where had i learnt that?? the internet, to which i replied from a well respected skoda forum, anyways, after telling her it was a 58 plate and only less than 3000 on the clock she said it would be fixed under warranty, so just to book it in and get it sorted!!, cheers for your reply

UPDATE!!

Had the car down to the dealers here in Leeds this morning....left with them at 8am...by 3pm had a call to tell me it was all fixed...turns out it was the dreaded water ingress around the pollen filter that had caused a problem with the wiring, all rectified by re-sealing the pollen filter and sorting the wiring, well happy with their prompt service, surprises me that an 18 month old car was already suffering from this, but alls well that ends well

That's a good outcome, the shoddiness of that design is dreadful but now you can keep an eye on it.

Good result in that they finally admitted they were at fault

The reason it happened so quickly is the fact that your car has sat around (probably under some trees) for 99% of it's life, this is what is killing them.

As your car had already spent as much time parked up as one twice as old (cars really need to be used!) it was bound to happen sooner (the exception would a car that had been garaged all that time).
