Delayed Yeti

Featured Replies

Hi,

This is my first post in this forum and sadly it is on a negative note as our Yeti eta has just been revised to July from June. I'm hoping that sharing the pain will help to reduce it somehow!

Hi Pharley,

Demand for the Yeti has far exceeded Skoda's expectations which is why an original 10 week delivery quote has now been extended to anything between 14 - 20 weeks. Skoda have re-shuffled production output to try and cope but reports are saying they have now been hit by a Panoramic Sunroof supply problem (was this specified as an option?)

Apart from trying to source one from the dealer forecourt or private sale, there's not much you can do but wait I'm afraid.

If it's any consolation (which it probably isn't), I ordered mine beginning of Feb and I've still got a couple of weeks to wait.

I understand that ex-Demos and courtesy cars are very popular and have been snapped up before the end of their duty. I think there may still be some un-registered ones around in showrooms as showroom cars - best of luck. I wished I ordered last year which means I could get some discount - but at the moment the dealers do not seem to want to negotiate at all, well at least after that swappage scheme.

Thanks for the moral support! Was kind of expecting the inevitable really. We ordered at the end of March and advised 6-8 weeks. If it comes in July it will be 12-16 which seems to be par for the course.

I have seen brokers offering up to £2500 off, was looking only last night; the prices were lower than most of the ex demo models with 6k on the clock!!

Only one month delay? :o Hopefully that new delivery time keeps. We ordered our Yeti early April, car was promised to come home early July (12 week wait). Now, just two weeks later, surprisingly our dear dealer says it very probably won't even come in September!!! The biggest reason is presumably the sun roof option we took... :S

September! That is a long wait. No sunroof on ours just a standard 2.0 TDI SE. Fingers crossed there are no more slips. The place I'm getting it from says the dealer is 'comfortable' with July at present.

I sympathise and felt exactly the same back on February 10th when I placed my order. However I can say this, that regular visits to the forum, downloading the owners manual, purchasing a maintenance manual on dvd from ebay and leafing through the past posts have made it a very enjoyable 12/13 weeks. I have built up quite a dosier of info on the SM during this time. July is but a few weeks away. All the best. Pit-Yaka

Spoke to my dealer today. Build week of my Yeti had been pushed back (again) from week 17 (last week) to week 18 (this week). However it is now finally confirmed as being built with a delivery date around end of May. This is from an order date of 5th February (16 weeks).

He considered me as one of the "lucky" ones. Dealers are now quoting up to 20 weeks and will not even specify a date if you choose the sunroof option because of the supply problem.

  • 2 weeks later...

I also ordered my Yeti SE 1.2 DSG on 3rd February and have so far been pushed back to week 22 (1st June) build and potential UK delivery end of June. Hopefully it will hold. I have specified options but no sunroof. Mike

I am not realy expecting mine until October, then if it arrives in Sept I will be happier lol

Of course at the current rate of delays it may even be November, but hey ho cant do anything about it so will just have to wait for the beast. Its not nice I know, but hopefully she will be worth the wait, so I commiserate with all others who have recently ordered (with roof) and those who have had longer delays than expected. I guess people in my position who have recently ordered in the last few weeks are under no illusion about how long we will have to wait, but it must be a bummer if you ordered a while back and now get told you get delayed !

Just the perils of buying a popular car I guess, mixed with a bit of unanticipated demand for car + sunroof, and the additional build time it takes to build cars with the roof, and the knock on effect.

Ordered my tdi SE on 26 Feb. The only extra was park assist, no sunroof, yet the build week was still 26 April, on the 4th May it was in Germany at port awaiting a ship. I'm hoping to get my hands on within the next 10 days which will make it more or less 3 months. Original delivery schedule was end of April so it will have slipped 3 weeks.

When I spoke to the dealer last he did say they were very difficult to get hold of due to the popularity.

There must be an awful lot of placed orders as I've only seen 5 on the road since feb.

Cappucino one near Bangor, North Wales. A light blue one in Llangollen, a White one on the m6 near Coventry, a silver one near Lutterworth and a Muscovado one near Kenilworth. Hi if you recognise your SM here!

6 weeks in here, still no build date!!!....might get one for xmas at this rate lol, a friend also ordered a diesel one, and she is now considering cancelling as her date has just slipped 4 weeks !!!.. :(

Cappucino one near Bangor, North Wales!?! Probably me. Just this morning I followed a silver TDI in Bangor - the second one I have seen. (common as muck round here)

I hit the market just at the right time. Needed to change my X-Trail and was in a financial position to do so when I saw the advert for the Yeti. Went for a test drive in October 09 and the car was delivered in November. Came over in the same boat as The Plumber's red SM.

hey next time I see you I'll wave as I'm up there a lot, my folks live on Anglesey.

1.2 DSG ordered 17 February. Couple of weeks ago I was told that the build put back until late-May. What annoyed me was, two weeks after placing the order, as a result of reading some threads on here, I decided to go for the spare wheel option as opposed to the adhesive filler. The dealer conducted whoever in the factory and was told it was too late to change as everything was now in place for its production.

As for its rarity, perhaps wikipedia should be altered to read "The Yeti or Abominable Snowman is a mythological car said to inhabit the roads. However, sightings are very rare, and even when it is believed to be seen, these may be the imaginings of other road users."

Was that for prices advertised by dealers for ex demos, or the actual price that they would be prepared to sell at? My ex demo cost considerably less than anything a broker could offer for the same model and spec.
