Skoda Yeti - Columbus Retro-Fit

Featured Replies

I should hopefully be taking delivery of my new Yeti in the next week or so, and I'm now thinking I should have spec'd Columbus.

I just wondered if anyone here had retro fitted Columbus in a Yeti?

I was planning on buying a unit off eBay, but not sure I'm skilled enough to fit it myself.

Does anyone know of someone that would be able to fit it for me in the Edinburgh/West Lothian area?

I think the fitting shouldn't be a massive problem, I was told you need to remove the facia and the trim, but that's not too much of a problem and should not take long at all, you do need a special key though.

However, I am not sure if the GPS antenna is already installed??

Hi not too sure so you will have to check but if the Yeti is the same as the Octavia then the trim is just a pull off from it's mounting tabs and then you will see the mounting bolts (torx heads) for the radio undo the bolts unplug the unit and away you go. I'm not sure but the plugs are probably similar for the speakers and power. As for the GPS antenna other people who have retro-fitted a Columbus have had to fit a GPS antenna under the dash board, factory fit units have and antenna integral to the radio antenna which results in a bigger base with a circular housing in front of the radio aerial. There are companies who will supply and fit a Columbus unit of known provenance rather than a unit which could have come from a less than honest supply route. Hazzydayz I believe are one (www.vwcruise.com I believe)
