I have a 2007 1.9, 44K miles. When starting from cold, and only cold, I often get a sort of clunk which you can feel and hear. The car always starts instantly hot or cold and appears to run faultlessly. My first thoughts are that a glow plug has failed. Would this show up as a fault code? Any other ideas?

Sorry I'm not a diesel owner or a mechanic so can't help other than by saying perhaps you could look for a vag-com owner near you and see if any faults come up. There is a vag com owners map in the diagnosis section of the site or you could put out a feeler. Hope you get it sorted
