Wheel spacers

Featured Replies

Just about ready to add these to the car, up until now I was planning on buying a set of H&R 15mm, which are approximately 100 quid per pair (not including replacement bolts). However, besides the types to be had on ebay for half the price I have found a pair of Eibach-pro hubcentric spacers for 45 quid delivered, again excluding the extended bolts. Does anyone have these ones fitted? I pressume like there suspension, these spacers would be a good quality product?! So the obvious question is, why so cheap?

Cheers Lee.

Yes. I have Eibach 15mms. They're excellent.

Another poor sod working nights?? :D

Thanks for your reply, does 45 quid sound right? have you gone for 15mm all round?

Not sure about the price, I bought mine second hand with the bolts. I assume you've got std 18" Zeniths or Neptunes so ET51 offset and 7.5J width. In which case, don't put 15mms on the front., 10mm will be plenty.

See this thread, but bear in mind his wheels are ET54, 7J.... http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/156122-wheel-spacers-now-fitted-with-pics/

In my case, I ran 15mms on the rear and none on the front:

I test fitted 15s on the front but they stood out to far and didn't look good.

Interesting, I wasn't planing on fitting any to the front either as I think the offset looks perfect. I only live up the road from Carl, and plan to see him soon so I can have a proper look then. I'm still struggling to find the correct bolts, I am sure the shank length will be 45mm to except the spacers, I just tool one off and it looks like a fixed radius head, but the only website I can find with a guide shows the nut with a fix cone shape?

Out of interest, did you have a butchers at the one's on the ebay link?

By the way, your motor looks spanking, just need to get it off the stilts........ emoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif

Cheers, Lee.

Yes, you want ball seat not conical bolts for OEM wheels. The ones in the ebay link look ok, but have a word with Shark_90 on here. He'll sort you out. Carl bought his from him.

Cheers, Lee.

I did a couple of months ago :D ...

Oooooo! very nice! are they coilys over 19's? Mines dropped 30mm, but yours seems lower than that, perfect stance mate nice one

PM'd Ben after speaking to Carl earlier, cheers.

Cheers. AP coilovers, only 18"s. One word of caution - running 15mm spacers on the rear with it lowered, be careful of the corner of the tyre rubbing the lip at the back of the inside of the wheel arch which meets up with the bumper, especially if you carry people in the rear and stuff in the boot. You might just get away with it, but have a check (listen for it and check the tyre / paint on the lip every now and then) and if necessary bend them back a tiny bit.

Thanks for the heads up, many moons ago I had a wee Pug 309 GTi which was dropped 120mm emoticon-0104-surprised.gif all the arches needed rolling in and the max wheel I could use was 16"..........out of interest what ride height have you got the coilovers set to, are they with fixed or adjustable dampers and how are they for everyday use?

Rears are wound right down but still with adjusters in, fronts could come down a bit more, but I'm going to leave it as is for now as I have speed cushions on my road and still just straddles them OK as it is. They're fixed damping, but they feel spot on so that's fine for me. Ride comfort is good. I've only grounded out properly once, last weekend with a passenger in the front and one in the back plus some stuff in the boot. It's having people / heavy stuff in the back that does it. I'd driven over the same thing earlier in the day with one passenger instead of two, virtually no fuel in the tank rather than full and nothing in the boot and it went over it fine. :giggle:

Ok, so now I need some more advice.

Looking at these spacers on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280502344719&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

After chatting with the seller, he has sent me to the land of confusion, let me try and explain........

He is saying that I need to check the depth of the locating stud on the hub, as the centre bore hole on the 15mm spacers will only accept up to 13mm?! and some VAG cars are 17mm. The consequence would be the spacer would not sit flush against the hub. Ok, so I have just removed the wheel and measured the stud depth (see picture) and it is 14mm, I've just been in touch with the seller again and he has said that the 15mm will be no good and as such I will need to go for 20mm. At a guess I would say this is just the design of these spacers as others have fitted 15mm or less to their vRS's! Or have I got retarded hubs with extra large locators???

TBH, I was expecting the hubcentric spacers to simply locate over the locator on the hub................. :'(

Why is this so bloody confusing?!

zDSC01184.jpg

This is a quote from the seller mentioned above;

Unfortunately these will not be suitable. The design of 15mm spacers means that they can acommodate hubs upto approx 12mm, any bigger and the integrity of the spacer is effected. You will have to find larger 20mm spacers which have a deeper centre section to accept larger hubs. This may cause problems though by pushing the wheels to far out ! Sorry I couldnt help with supplying any items, but I hope that the info provided helps in any future purchases you may make. Best Regards.

Pagey

For crying out loud give Ben at Shark a mail will you - it could save you a load of aggro. It doesn't need to be confusing - there are people out there who've done this before emoticon-0143-smirk.gif

Forget the ebay ones and talk to Ben!

Alright mate, don't bite my head off emoticon-0106-crying.gif , I did message Ben 2 days ago, no respose yet which is why I'm asking......!! emoticon-0179-headbang.gif

Sorry Pagey - didn't mean to come across like that! emoticon-0106-crying.gif

Ben has probably just flown off to his moutain retreat for some Karma top-up after all the stress of dealing with loony Briskoda users!! I'm sure he'll be in touch soon!

Funny thing is, I could have sworn my hubs weren't anything like as long as 14mm. :S

Have a look here as this is a pic of my car with the spacers before and after. These were from Ben @ Shark Performance and they are 10mm fronts and 15mm rear. You can see quite clearly they fit flush to the hubs.

I have viewed this thread previously, I don't suppose you can remember what your centralising spigot looked like? So far every company I've spoken to have stated that I will need to go bigger than 15mm? Just waiting for confirmation from Ben about their product.

If you have the same style vRS as me then Bens 15mm will fit.

I never measured the hub spiggot.

MY2006 Estate.

Well mine is a MY2007 Hatch so I can't see the hubs being any different to be honest.
