Removing Fabia Badge

Featured Replies

HI everyone,

I saw a MK1 fabia vRS at the weekend, with the fabia logo removed. It looked rather nice and minimal. I was thinking of doing the same on my vRS.

Question is: Are the are holes beneath or can I just prize it off and clean off any glue?

Thanks guys!

no holes peel / pick off, i used a knife!!

then petrol to get rid of residue

then i used a rotary polisher to polish it up as the paints will be different colours after all the years ;)

Just as an FYI, the Skoda badge does have holes under it though. The rest don't.

Front or Rear?

White spirit? Not sure if that would damage paint or not though.

Front or Rear?

Rear Skoda badge leaves holes.

Think the front is glued on (not 100% though), but being recessed into the grille, would look odd when removed anyway.

the bum end is recessed too isnt it?

no just two holes

put a strip of tape directly above the letters, heat witha hair dryer to soften the adhesive and carefully prise the letters off from the top using the tape as protection for woteva u use to prise off, clean with petrol/lighter fuel n t cut...

I'm sure I have read of dental floss being used to remove badges?

Best tool for bodywork badge removal is an old credit/loyalty club card or similar.

Its easier if you pour hot (not boiling) water right on the letters too.

This will make the adhesive gummy and soft, then you can take your credit card "scraper" and get to work....

For christs sake don't use a knife!!! :o

Front and rear badges identical. Both self adhesive with two lugs on the rear

which are knurled over/melted once through their respective holes.

This is to ensure straight badge application at the factory. And to provide a physical anchoring

so that if over time, the sticky pad fails, there's still something holding the badge on..

I found sea fishing line good (anything less than 20 lb rating just snaps too quickly - I found 50 lb trace line the best)

Front or Rear?

There is no Fabia badge on the front.

Bit of a thread bump here...

Above it says both that the Skoda badges are and are not mechanically fasted as well as glued.

Can anybody tell me what I need to do to remove the Skoda badges in order that I fit some new ones please?

Thanks!

Ben

For the bonnet and boot badges I used a hair dryer to soften the glue and gently prized them off.

As grr666 said above, both bages have 2 pins to help line up, but it's just the glue holding it on.

Once off I used autosmart tardis to remove the glue residue left on the boot and bonnet... Jobs a good 'un

Nice one - thanks very much :D

On the front badge the pins are melted over to add a mechanical fixing as well as the adhesive.

Not on the rear badge though. I just opened the bonnet, clipped the pins off of the back of the

old front badge with some side cutters before fitting the new one.

Once the pins were off I pushed the old front badge off through the holes using a

screwdriver. I was chucking it away after though so it didn't matter if it was mullered.
