Fabia vRS test drive

Featured Replies

Got one booked for sat 4th dec, and while looking at the dealers website they have a 13k miles 53 plate one for sale for 10,995.

So if all goes well there could be another Fab Vrs owner on board this weekend.

What are the changes to the 53 plate on sale and the 54 plate I`ll be testing, all i can see at 1st glance are new wheels.

I have been reading this site for a few months now you all seem to be happy with your cars, I have had diesels and turbo diesels in the past, now own a petrol and really want to get back into a diesel I miss my 50mpg. Hope Skoda gives decent price for part ex.

Oh right, it must be me then I was looking ing the latest brocher from Sept 1st 2004 and the only 16" wheel they show in there are the wheels known as POLI. I tokk it that tey were standard fitment for the vRS.

The wheels are exactly the same...dunno where you got that from? The differences are rear lights and thats about it. Mechanical differences are different gear ratios

I'm compiling a list of differences to go on my website when I eventually get round to sorting it out.

I'd agree the wheels are the same. So are the rear badges despite what some people say - however there was a change earlier on in the model's life to shorten the "vRS" bit.

The front grille is different - the vanes are angled - but I don't know whether that's an aesthetic or technical change - certainly the effect is minimal either way.

The interlinking of the door mirrors where they both change together has also gone - that seems sensible to avoid confusion.

Rear door locking buttons have gone.

Could you elucidate re the change in gear ratios please

Called in today to see the 53 plate and it sold.

He did offer me the 54 plate 1,800mls for 11,400 and that includes cruise control, I could have had the test run today but i was in my working clothes so I can`t wait now untill saturday. Like i said it all depends how much i get offered on my presant car

Wot is your present car ?

Presant car is a 1.2 Corsa Sxi 12 months old bought for SWMBO to learn to drive in, car before that was a Focus Tddi,

4th 5th and 6th are longer in the early 53 models (like mine).
Interesting - I find 6th in my Mark 1.5 already very much an overdrive. Presumably the change in the gear ratios explains why the official fuel consumption rates have dropped...

Could you please post the actual numbers?

i.e. for comparison against http://www.briskoda.net/forums/t16164-gear-ratios--latest-fabia-vrs.html

(apologies for thread hyjacking - I'll switch to that other thread which is more relevant)

I've now also discovered http://www.briskoda.net/forums/t9005-different-6sp-box-on-new-fabia-vrs.html
