Hi, considering buying an 04 Octavia RS

Featured Replies

Hi,

Seriously condidering trading in my Audi A2 for an O4 Octavia RS.

I've had a look at the car. It's at 55K miles, so I suppose I should ask for a new Cam Belt & Water Pump?

Have n0t driven it yet, but started it up and noticed it was idling at 1200 revs. Is this normal? The dealed said "it's just because it's cold".

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

Graham

Hi and welcome to the forums

Cambelt and water pump are every 4 years or 60,000 miles whichever comes first so it should have had a cambelt and water pump done in 2008 but best to check.

They idle at 1200 revs when cold but after 90 seconds the revs should drop to about 800-900 as that is when the secondary air system has finished warming up the cat.

Check out the Octavia I forum for more info.

What was the A2, 1.4TDI? They were the most economical VAG group car of their time. Still a rare find

Thanks for that. Yes I have an o3 1.4 TDi Sport at the moment. It's actually worth more than the Octavia, so not sure if the dealer will be interested in a trade/
