Brake Fluid

Featured Replies

Just had a call from the dealer doing my 40k service...they can change my brake fluid.

I'm upgrading to Castrol Response Super Dot 4 which is compatible with the existing Dot 4 fluid howerver......they would have to clean out their machine twice to change the fluid...once to put my fluid in and twice to refill with their standard stuff.

Fair enough......

....so my question is where can I get my fluid changed and not have this same problem?

I guess a trip to see Phil perhaps? ;)

You might find that not all Skoda garages use "the machine". Do you have another dealer nearby? Apart from that, it seems to depend on whether you need a full change (ie including the ABS chambers), in which case you need someone with the diag. tools, although anyone can do a less-thorough change. Local indy?

Nick,

is it really that easy?

Will try most things but brakes and plumbing..apart from tap changing....I won't even contemplate. :o

Yes it's really that easy. If I wasn't doing stuff all weekend I'd come and do it for you, and return the brake winder at the same time. Sorry - our courier was not present when he was needed .....

(which reminds me - you've done most things with your brakes already, haven't you?)

Yep..changed the discs and pads...thought I might as well have the fluid upgrade when it's supposed to be changed at 40k service.
