APR or REVO

Featured Replies

Can anyone give me any info on either of these Remaps , Ive had APR before on my LCR just wondered what views people have on these remaps. :S

Free advertising for Ben, but from what I've heard from many members Shark Performance are a hard act to follow, in fact if I was starting fresh, I wouldn't hesitate.

Having said that, both APR and Revo are proven quality, I currently have an Angel Tuning remap which I am happy with.

Easy : "potential fuel savings". Just remember to omit the fact that your insurance premiums may go up a little...

iam off on tuesday down to revo's head office to get my vrs done, iam going revo because ive had revo before and had some spot on agains without any trouble at all,iam not knocking the rest but revo are a multi-million pound company that are worldwide and spent fortunes on producing their maps,

Google for revo tfsi map. On all the graphs i've seen there's a dip around 3500 rpm.

I've turned up a couple of posts on other forums talking about a flat spot in mid revs with the revo 98 ron map and the solution seems to be a higher powered fuel pump. As best i can tell the 95 ron map doesn't appear to be affected.

Been researching a few different maps recently figured i'd pass on some knowledge. For what it's worth i've convinced myself (after quite a bit of reviewing posts and rolling road print outs) that Ben on here shark_90's map seems to be the best put together.

Another vote here for Shark Performance

There's no dip in this one.

I somehow doubt thats just a stage 1 car with nothing else on it though

Just a couple ;) .

I had a remap from Paramount on my Skoda and changed to one of Ben's and the difference is incredible. So much smoother, no horrible torque boost in the middle of the rev range.

When I saw Ben last he was talking about a 7 day (I think) trial period on his maps - if after 7 days you weren't happy he'd take it off and there would be no charge. If you were and wanted to keep it then you would pay for it.

Tom

I don't think there is a dip in the Revo map (certainly not the stage 1 anyway).

I have had a Revo map on my TFSI for over a year and really am delighted. I don't find it too harsh and its transformed the car - especially when cruising in 6th - you are sitting bang on top of a load of torque making motorway driving effortless.

I went with Revo for several reasons..

1. A number of VAG dealers are Revo agents (inc. the Skoda dealer where I had mine done).

2. They have been used by VAG themselves on several factory Special Edition cars.

3. They have been in the business longer than most (since 2002).

4. They are used all over the world and have agents in US, Aus, Japan etc etc.

5. There are quite a number of Revo'd TFSI cars on the VW USA forums that have done 150,000+ miles on a Revo map with no mechanical problems surfacing.

They are not the cheapest, but they do have a very good pedigree.

Could you shine some light on point 2 please?

Just as in interesting view on point 4...

the rest of which is freely available at http://www.goapr.com/images/Revo/UK/

Hence the reason I refuse to go back to Revo after having one of there maps on the GTi ED30 which I wasnt impressed with

seen that happen on another car on dyno dynamics rollers.

i think chris car had autotech HPFP and evoms, on a revo stage 1 map. credible output as well when you consider he pretty much matched the Peak output of vRSCarls stage 2+ vRS, however carl hld that power and torque for a alot longer. It also had higher peak figures than Muckipups stage 2. Its all about the HPFP. although the torque is very peaky so on the road id wager the other two cars would be better.
