Another remap question

Featured Replies

Has anyone heard of CMD software. i kow a guy who is remaping with this software .he claims its very safe etc like most. I am looking at getting the vRS done but was gonna fit a decat at the same time i already have a BMC panel filter will upgrade the DV too..

Can this software map out the rear lambda? what else do i need to know? better to go stage one or 2? was also gonna buy a 4bar pressure reg too will i need to or should i wait..see how i get on with stage 1 then go stage 2?

help folks!

Have you asked the tuner about it? Do they have any graphs of 1.8T cars running their maps so you can check the boost isn't too high etc.

Some stage 2 remaps need a 4 bar FPR some don't. If it is a custom map rather than generic then some tuners will be happy to map out the 2nd lambda sensor for no extra charge, some won't.

not got graphs etc i dont think thought i should seek some info here before i go guns blazing..thanks:)

Dose, I asked advice, was given it, ignored it and went in guns blazing for a generic map. I'm now having to replace my turbo after only 15,000 miles. It could be a coincidence, who knows? If I had my time again though, I'd have saved up for a custom map from a well known tuner on here and I might not be looking at a bill as big as I am.

Listen to people on here, they know what they're on about. (Most of them anyway :giggle: .)

p.s. I will add that the custom map I've had done since the generic map is so much better and the difference is night and day.

Cheers Skinnyman, yeah i will be looking into it further before i part with the hard earned.. i dont want to be parting with more than i need to with a crap map.It will be definately a custom map i will be going for to match other mods added through time.

thanks for the info:)

CMD is the tool used to read and write the ECU, not the software that actually does the remap.

I've been running a generic R-Tech stage 1 map for over a year.

I checked the play in my turbo and the vanes on Saturday and everything looked fine

A bad generic map can cause terminal failure or if you already have a slight fault/issue any map will make it worse, custom or not.

All maps put more stress on the turbo as you want to make more boost but it all depends on how it is delivered and the state of components.
