Octavia Brochures on Skoda Website?

Featured Replies

Can anyone tell me why the April 2010 Octavia brochure has been removed from the Skoda website?

I downloaded a 1/4/10 brochure last week sometime. Looked again yesterday to find no brochure available. This morning the brochure that downloads is dated Jan 2010? Has there been a change in spec. or what other reason would there be for reverting to the old brochure??

Interested as I've just ordered a 1.4TSi Elegance - wondered if I might get some extra bits!!

Thanks,

Bouff

Don't know why it should have been changed but there wasn't that much difference between them. The main thing was that the electric folding mirrors were removed as standard from the elegance and became a factory fit option (£180). Otherwise I don't think much changed. So Jan. 2010 brochure should still be a good starting point with your dealer.

Sarge.

Has to be a mistake , because the Jan edition has errors in some of the options on certain models.

The whole on line SKODA system is a bit naff in my opinion, with lots of errors.

Best to go into the dealer and get the latest spec they use.

The Superb brochures disappeared (and came back as Jany 2010) at the same time. Presumably someone loaded the wrong files back. But the Jany brochures will have the reduced prices still won't they??

The whole Skoda UK website has been getting very tatty for some time. They removed the configurator, with just a story that it was being updated, and have no information yet about the week 22 changes. Compared with the VW site, it is a very poor marketing effort. Still, at least you can download some of the car brochures unlike the SEAT site!!

Prices are due to go up as of the 25th of this month, so they will be changing the brochures now.

Thats interesting James. Why are the prices going up ?

At a guess, general inflation and the loss in value of the pound vs the euro.

So the discounts look bigger :D

Could the prices be going up in anticipation of VAT being increased? Would allow SKoda to keep the VAT offer without losing another 2.5%??

The other difference between the Jan and April brochures was the on-the-road prices included the new road fund tax rates.

They are going up on average by £300 throughout the range. Any cars ordered before 25th will be price protected so if you are planning on buying one this weekend make sure you do.

Not sure exactly why the prices are going up, but I suspect falling profits and the worthless currency we seem to have.

Falling profits???? 12-14 weeks wait for a car. Seems strange.

Exactly. Falling profits, less workers in the factory, slower car manufacturing. There was a report somewhere in the forum from Der Spiegel newspaper that SKoda is actually for last few years at loss.

I phoned Skoda uk and they are sending me a brochure via snail so will be interesting which version. Old one that they need to get rid of , no doubt. Will update when it arrives.

I spoke to Skoda UK yesterday and the lady on the phone couldn't even access the brochure PDF to see if it was the correct edition or not, offered to snail mail me hard copy I declined. Told her it was the January 2010 edition complete with snow man, she still didn't know if that was still valid. She was going to let marketing know so they could put the current version back online.

Also asked if "build your own" was every going to be reinstated, she didn't know.

Must say whilst Skoda cars are good the backup both from dealers and Skoda UK leaves a fair bit to be desired.

When I bought my Fabia I bought it from a dealer who operated out of a ancient car sales place, so much better service that the new generation of glass and steel dealerships, Skoda dealers just seem to be like every other mainstream dealer now.

I am not in the least bit suprised that brocures have been withdrawn - it was probably the cleaner wot did it!

Seriously, Skoda UK are exactly where Fiat UK were about 8 years ago. Customer service and response appears to be lacking and there is definately a lax approach to spec detail and consistency. There is absolutely no point in talking to a company who can't even tell you what the de-facto specification for one of their cars is - witness the number of people who've had new cars delivered without key expected features. The fact that the "build your own" has been down for so long demonstrates the lax attitude to a tee.

Skoda UK need to get their act together and realise that people expect more than they are currently delivering.

if any needs the april 10 borchure pdf pm me your email ive got a copy saved

I've read on here that the I think it was either the Elegance or Scout, were getting some changes (e.g. 3 spoke MFSW) that weren't detailed in the April brochure. Maybe they have been pulled to incorporate the wk 22 changes?

Steve

New brochure is up - 2.0 CR is listed, not sure if the prices are up though.

Well spotted. Prices are up slightly though (I have a copy of the old brochure).

Scout 1.8 TSI was listed at £19,765 OTR, now at £20,165

Scout 2.0 TDI was listed at £21,585 OTR, now at £21,700

vRS hatchbacks seem to have gone up by £300, vRS estates by £400

Hmm I still think it's not been updated correctly. As it's talking about 4 spoke MFSW and I thought the L&K now had a 3 spoke MFSW as standard and the Elegance as an option to replace the 4 spoke version.

Apart from the prices has and pictures anything changed? A quick side-by-side comparision suggests that the specs are all the same. If there are changes for MY11 (per thread Good News from Build Week 22) then the brochure doesn't list them.

There some confusing stuff for the Scout - the LED DRLs are packaged with the auto dimming mirror, rain sensor and light assistant. I find this hard to believe because the latter have been pn the standard sScoutfrom the beginning and I can't see the logic in packaging it unless its purely cost cutting. Why not package the sunset glass with the alcantara etc, etc!

You are right, its illogical, and contradicts the specs listed earlier in the brochure (i.e. 4x4 has rain sensor & auto dim, and Scout is based on 4x4 specs plus additions).

All we can say is the Skoda UK are in a muddle.

In the early 90s I was the pricing controller for Nissan GB, the spec build-up between models is complex and detailed, but it isn't anything that can't be managed by being organized and methodical.
