Damp driver's footwell = leaking front door seals?

Featured Replies

I hoovered the car today, and found the drivers footwell carpet very slightly damp.

This car previously has had both REAR door seals re-glued by the Skoda dealership in the past 6months (done twice as the leaks came back not long after they glued them), although both front doors didn't show any signs of leaking at the time, or even now.

It hasn't rained for a few weeks from what I can remember, so could the wet footwell still mostly be from a leaky door seal/door card thingy?

hi

if it hasnt rained for a while and your foot well is wet its down to an incorrectly fitted pollen filter.

if how ever the passenger foot well remains damp / wet then remove your door card and examine the white / grey seal around the door panel for the door chanels (stupid design where the water falls down inside the door and out the bottom instead of running down the out side)

this is a common problem with the VAG cars and it happened to me a few months ago.

to fix it losen the bolts and run a bead of loctite sealent around where the old seal is ensuring the old seal is dry before you apply. then refit the door card after nipping the bolts back up and job done.

i hope this helps

Thanks for the reply,

The pollen filter (i haven't yet checked if it's wet) is on the passenger side though, so if water is getting in via there, why would the drivers footwell be wet?

I haven't yet taken the doorcards off yet - If they did leak from the doorcards, would they show dirty water marks on the doorcard fabric?

When the rears leaked, the fabric on the doorcards was all marked with muddy stains..
