DAB radio and Bolero

Featured Replies

I've seen this article on the new VW Golf Match:

http://carscoop.blogspot.com/2010/05/new-golf-match-joins-vw-uk-lineup.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Carscoop+%28CARSCOOP%29&utm_content=Google+Reader

It mentions that the car now has a DAB radio as well the VW 510 - which is the Bolero. So is this DAB bit just an add on or is it a totally new Bolero with DAB bits in it? Can this DAB bit be retrofitted?

If the goverment is going to switch of the analog radio signals at some point all our current car radios will be useless for anything but our own music! So we will have to get DAB I imagine. So if VW has it why is SUK not offering DAB as an option now?

Searching for Bolero DAB on Google gives you nothing but if you search for VW 510 DAB you get this:

http://www.incar-emporium.com/product_info.php?currency=GBP&products_id=2699 So £550 for a 510 with DAB inside it seems.

Commercial radio is funded by advertising.

Until a majority of users are on DAB, they wont be switching off FM !

Perhaps a Pure Highway, if you need it ?

I have a Pure DAB / FM radio/alarm - DAB is better, but not hugely so.

Will it need a different aerial?

I sure hope they don't!

As to an extra external DAB thing. No thanks - yet another thing in yet another power socket to feed. I have two DAB radios in the house and neither have any better sound than a normal FM radio to my ears. More stations yes, but I have my 6 pre-set ones and that is it. I never change that.

I take it they don't do these in the Skoda's yet then? You can add DAB as an external unit anyway can you not?

Hi,

Unfortunately Skoda are still not offering DAB, although as you suggest you can get aftermarket equipment to receive DAB without changing your factory radio.

Yea thats a shame about the DAB. I wouldn't want one of those though. If I couldn't get DAB to integrate into the HU with the text and other features then I'd rather not bother tbh.

No DAB, even on the MK 3 Octy??? Seriously!

Question or Statement?

The thread is from 2010 so i'm unclear

DAB is on the Amundsen in the Rapid and Yeti Urban, maybe will become more widespread in the Skoda range when the Yeti and Superb get facelifted?
