Octavia differences

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I'm after a little bit of advice,

I'm currently looking at Octavias, and I've found a MK1 4x4 1.8T (Combi?) which has had a few little mods, Jamex coilovers, adjustable rear tiebars and a remap. Its a fair bit cheaper than the going rate for a vRS at the bottom of the market, and has caught my attention due to the 4WD system.

My question is, other than the Interior, wheels and spoiler, what is one of these likely to be missing from a vRS? Are the brakes likely to be any different on the vRS, what about other bits?

Thanks in advance,

Mike.

Brakes I believe are slightly smaller (and no green calipers), the suspension isn't as stiff and the car doesn't sit lower, also doesn't have the same front bumper as the VRS. You also lose a lot of boot depth due to the haldex 4wd system underneath. And it's very slightly thirstier on petrol.

The 4x4 does benefit from fully independent rear suspension and ESP (electronic stability program) which the VRS doesn't have, and some of the 4x4s had things like Xenons and heated seats which were options on the VRS. The remap should make it faster than a standard VRS.

How much could I pick up say the vRS seats and brakes for?

Are there a lot of 4x4 owners here?

im a 4x4 owner and dont have heated seats in mine so check the one you are looking at, the boot is huge and if you remap it thay are just as quick as a remaped vrs.

as for petrol, we get 28 around town and 38+ on the motorway and we are not remaped, this could get better with the remap like vrs's do.

you dont need vrs brakes but if you want to change them you might as well get leon cupra r stuff for about 500 all in

seats sell for about 300-400 from what i have seen, but to be honest i dont have to worry about the white to keep clean

IMO get the 4x4 and add the vrs styling cues to taste
