Mmmm, really must get round to fitting a catch can, only quandary is whether to follow Robs excellent quide or this one that removes even more junk.......answers on a postcard..etc...

That's exactly how mine is setup now, so I say go for that way!

The AUQ has slightly different pipework, as the suction spray pump has it's own separate vac feed, so the inlet manni has an extra port. Doesn't matter, as you can rip it all out anyway. Just means you have to plug the 2 ports on the inlet manifold, and the one on the turbo intake hose.

I tried a couple of revisions before getting it right, and it's spot on now. Here's what I went through:

Suction pump removal: http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/154144-suction-pump-system-removal/page__p__1911434__fromsearch__1entry1911434

Breather system revision 1 and 2 (on second page): http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/153317-bodges-super-special-service-weekend/

And here's how she looks now:

P.S. I put the part numbers for the PCV and 90degree crankcase pipe in the part numbers thread a while back.

Thanks for that, some how missed your very nice guide.

Pull it all out!

I did mine in stages to make sure I understood what I was pulling out.

i did bertee's car

the best thing to do is rip it all out lol

all bertee has now is one vac line to brake bosster one vac line to fuel reg and one to the dv

thats it lol none of the other crap is needed and make the car run better and less chance of the cheap rubber hoses failing so if he has issues now its only a matter of checking 3 hoses

Just a quick comment.....

I removed the catch can last night to inspect it and drain it, and check over all the hoses. Not much in it from over the summer really. Just a small amount of oily sludge.

What I did notice from looking at the hoses and connections, is that it definately works really well. The hose and fitting on the inlet side of the can was all sludgy and mayonnaise like, and the hose and fitting on the exit side was clean and free from any sludge or mayo. I was impressed with how well it does work!

Glad you commented on this as I was going to say the same.

I fitted mine over the cold season and was changing / draining it monthly getting over half a glass jar out of it.

Over the past few months I was getting hardly any and wondering if it was working ok. but the warmer weather must really stop the build up due to less condensation in upper part of the engine.

I did the elephant hose mod, not got around to a catch can yet. They didn't mention anything on the MOT about it so I guess there is nothing illegal about it.

It goes through the turbo at one point which is just as worrying!

Once the oil vapour gets ventilated out of the crankcase it goes back into the engine via the airbox and through the turbo to the intercooler. At that point it's vapour but when it hits the intercooler it turns to liquid again which is what you find in the bottom of the intercooler.

I really should get round to fitting one of these but I missed the group buy last year :(

group buy you say, uhuh!!!!

I am really tempted todo this. Besides the catch can what else do I need?

Also which catch can does one buy? I have seen that Saikou Michi one but how much is that in english sterling?

Just some 19mm (3/4") oil resistant hose, clamps, a 19mm tee and some time :)

Email the guy at Saikou Michi for shipping costs - he's really friendly and responded quickly to me.

Cost of the can itself works out at 75 quid + postage at current exchange rate

I'd be up for a group buy too

About £90 all in, in proper money.

Wasn't sure if he was USD or AUD. Did you get charged tax on top, or does it not count on something like this?

With regards to pipes... is is possible to get green pipping?
