octavia clutch

Featured Replies

My 2009 Octavia II 1.9 has developed a noise when clutch pedal is half way down. Clutch is working perfectly, the car has done 45,000 miles in first year and the car has been serviced regularly. Any ideas? :S

If the noise only occurs when the clutch pedal is depressed, the most likely cause would be a faulty release bearing

Seconded. Incidentally, I've heard a few cases where the noise didn't occur when the clutch was engaged, or the pedal was floored, but did occur everywhere else in the travel.

I've been wondering whether my clutch is about to go. After the car has been driven fro a good 20 miles or so, a medium pitched whine can be heard. Fairly certain it;s not the turbo. The noise occurs at all speeds, only really noticeable between 10-40MPH though due to less engine noise.

The whine is best described as similar to that you might get when reversing a car at speed, only much more subtle / quiet.

Any thoughts?

Worth getting a brake fluid change done with genuine fluid if the car is not too far from needing one as IIRC the clutch is operated by this and the wrong fluid can cause problems when warm.

the noise was due to faulty flywheel which was replaced under warranty

faulty flywheel replaced under warranty cured problem, clutch a lot lighter as well.
