argh, both windows and both wing mirrors are dead? i have checked the fuses and nothing?

Would suggest the wiring in the door/hinge has broken. I think it runs from the switch, to the main part of the car, and back to the windows again. Might be worth poking around in the rubber sleve, see if anything comes alive?

Yeah done that and took off rubber sleave. nothing. The switches on both light up but the dont work on either the mirror or windows?

Disconnect the battery for a few minutes to reset the convenience ECU. Radio may require a recode, the clock resetting and all your MFD data (trip computer) will be lost.

also forgot to mention that the heater on the mirrors works, but no movement.

Just trying out the battery disconnection.

left the battery of for about 15mins and it has had no effect, gutted.

has anyone had this problem? Could it be the relay?

Convenience ECU could be dead. Best to get someone to scan it with vagcom as this should confirm as such. Normally an error message about "no comms" comes up.
