warning light?

Featured Replies

Hi

Just started up the Octy to be greeted with a warning beep/light which i believe to be "worn brake pad". (orange circle with 3 lines to each side).

Now i changed the wheels the other week and visually inspected the brake pads which had plenty of material left on them (front only) and it had new rear shoes only 16 months ago!

should i ignore?

I've seen a few Octys where the inner brake pads were wearing quicker than the outer ones so might be worth a re-check, the inner pad has the wear sensor so you might find that although the outer pads look fine the inner pads are getting very low.

Other than that it could be the multiplug that connects the sensor wire from the brake pad to the wiring going up into the wheel arch has come apart, just needs reconnecting and wrapping in some electrical tape.

cheers for the reply chicken_eyebrow.

Luckily its friday and ive got all weekend to take a look.

If i replace all pads will the warning light disappear, or will i have to get it reset at a garage?

ive just changed my discs and pads and the plug off my pads had broke off causing my light come on, the quick fix to get rid of the light was to feed the wire directly into the plug then connect together :giggle::thumbup:

The only pad that has a sensor is the front passenger side one on the inner side of the caliper.

Light should go out once that pad is replaced (do all the front ones though) or it will go out when you fix the multiplug if it's come apart

Had the same warning light the other day, changed the front pads and light has gone out.

( i've got a 110bhp octavia but after speaking to car spares guy my car has got 130bhp breaks )

As a last resort, if you can't get the light out and the pads are OK, it can be put out by recoding the dash panel, though it won't come on when the pads are worn.
