Multi Car insurance

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I've currently got my S60, which I love to bits, but I've been offered an S80 T6 for silly money. I am struggling to work out the best way to insure it as I have 5 years NCB on the S60 and the T6 would start from scratch which puts the insurance at over 1k!!

I've looked at multicar policies and I'm seeing £1800 odd quotes too!!

Someone suggested a motor trade policy which allows me to drive any car etc.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do?

Chris

most motor trade policys dont cover you for cars that the v5 is in your name!

we've got 3 cars, and 2 full licence holders and 1 provisional holder, we are each the main driver on one policy, and the named driver on the other 2 policies, and it worked out significantly to insure each car seperately rather than multi car.

Car 1, main driver age 60, 10 yrs ncb, 40 years licence group 15 car, £312

Car 2, main driver (myself) aged 22, 3 years NCB, licence 5 years, group 5 car £404

Car 3, main driver 18 provisional holder, 0 year NCB, group 3 car £812,

all our licences are clean no convictions, and none of us have made a claim in the last 10 years, the cheapest multicar for all cars and all of us came in at a couple of quid under £2500 alll 3 cars are fully comprehensive insured

Hi! Thanks for the reply,

One of the motor trade sites I went on asked you to declare any vehicles that were owned and not for sale and it made no difference to the cost. In reality the T6 will only be kept for a little while and then I'd sell it and probably get something different :p

I had Tesco's insurance for 2 cars. They gave me the same NCD for the 2nd. car as the 1st.

Yes, this is often the case where the insurance co. views the driver as a good risk.. On line quote stsyems struggle to offer this but should be possible by phone or via a broker.
