She's a Rattler!

BACK WITH VENGEANCE! :swear:

Nice warm weather and our rattles return with gusto.

Like I said one chance.....traded in the POS today. B)

Such a shame as Skoda has lost a customer, not only this car but when our other car was due to for change (currently a BMW) that was going to be a Superb - not now.

Never mind, guys and gals I wish you all the best with your Yeti's, cracking vehicles that they are. :wonder:

For your information we have gone for a Subaru. If any one reading this sees a red Yeti, 1.8TSi for sale in the midlands area my advice is to stay at barge pole length distance from same! :wall:

Bye all to possibly the nicest online community of any car brand.

I think I'll be going down the same route, my rattles from places you wouldn't know you could get rattles. Plus it keeps breaking down and consumes fuel and oil like there is no tomorrow. Will there ever be a day when it all works? Not in my ownership.

The financial hit in trading an 8 week old car is, frankly, nothing to the revenue the wretched thing has already cost me and my business.

Yippee! I've found out how to cure an infuiating rattle!

I've been tearing my hair out (well, not literally - but it's been very annoying) for some weeks trying to cure a rattle from the very back of the luggage area. It's not there all the time & sounds rather metallic. Happens on normal British back roads, but superbly quiet on a decently surface road.

I know that unless you push them down properly, the shopping bag hooks rattle, so I took them out.

Rattle still there.

Took out the various underfloor boxes & boot floor & the parcel shelf.

Still there.

Took out the spare wheel, all contents of the lower ustorage box, & the spare wheel post.

Still there.

Took out the rear seats

Yes, you've guessed it - rattle still there.

What on earth can it be?

Then I suddenlly realised as I shut the tailgate, that I could hear the rattle from OUTSIDE!

Grrr! it's the rear licence plate!

The acrylic plate is stuck onto a black plastic carrier (with the dealer's website address across the bottom) which in turn is screwed to the tailgate. The black carrier rattles against the bodywork. A quick trip to my Skoda agent, "oh, yes, they always rattle, but they insist that we fit them" said the helpful valeter who proceded to pull it clean off the car!

A new carrier plate, with foam pads behind was screwed on, & the licence plate stuck in place with new pads & .......

hey, presto, rattle gone.

No why didn't I think of that before?

I agree with others on the forum that the various annoying creaks & rattles that afflict the TSI's are probably there on all SM's but it's just that the petrol versions are so quiet that they are so much more obvious
