Been Given a Compaq Ipaq h3950

Now what to do with it?

I've had a little poke, and discovered that basically I can't really do anything.

Any ideas on how to fiddle without destroying it?

All I want is a few games, a PDF reader, etc...

What version of WindowsMobile is it running? IIRC they came with PocketPC 2002 (or was it Windows Mobile 2003) but I don't know if they can be upgraded to something newer.

I had a 3600 which ran PocketPC 2000 when I first bought it (was it really that long ago?? emoticon-0101-sadsmile.gif) and it wasn't a bad little device but the 3800 and 3900 series that came after were definitely a bit better. Adobe did do a pdf reader for them and you may still be able to find it on their site somewhere. Games were available, but I've never really been one for games on my pda, I did have a few puzzle games on mine though

P.S. You'll need to download activesync from Microsoft to get it to sync up to Outlook on your PC if you're still running XP. I'm fairly sure Vista and Windows 7 will know what do with it...

Try this for the pdf reader http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2_mobile.html

Sadly it's running 2002, and I've been trying for an hour or so to upgrade to 2003, but don't seem to be able to thanks to some bizarre vista conflict. Grr...
