Some problems

Featured Replies

Put my Octy in for mainly A/C fault. There is no cold/cool air - unable to maintain 21 degrees when the sun is out (not often). The EML was also on but the car had been driving ok. I read two codes from the car before it went in: 04374 and 00304 - anyone know what these are?

That was last Wednesday, I collected the car yesterday not fixed. Apparently they are going to change the A/C compressor and condensor, but parts are on back order. There is a fault with either one or both O2 sensors but nothing has been done with them as yet.

I also asked for the DSG to be reset as it changes down too soon on downhill no throttle sections. It also takes two stabs of the clutch to pick away. Tech said he felt this when road tested. It's still taking two stabs but not changing down so early.

Anyone any thoughts? Dealer been ok so far but I feel more could have been done. Car also has big oily hand prints all over tailgate where it's been pushed around the workshop!

Some problems have just turned into massive problems.

The car went back in last week and was returned to me the next day with, from what I could see, a new condenser, compressor and the EML light off. Also, rather disappointingly, the front bumper was squint, grille trims hanging off and several hundred more oily hand prints to add to the previous ones on the rear - poor show. A quick telephone call arranged the car would be collected yesterday to put right the wrongs.

Tuesday just gone, EML back on - DSG, although changing better still taking two stabs at picking away. I sent a list with the car to the Workshop Manager describing my faults and complaints adding that the driver's door exterior handle sticks open when pulled, this was yesterday.

I got a call from them later on yesterday to say that the DSG mechatronic is u/s and that it would require replacement - 6 weeks :o and in the meantime Skoda don't want it driven for obvious reasons. Fair enough, but, the ECU is also scrap. EH? Despite having new O2 sensor it still wants another and after a wiring test they reckon it needs an ECU.

Well unhappy at this. Glad of warranty though and they are to provide a similar car for my use ( the 3 cylinder Fabia I have just now just isn't happening!!!)

I can see this going pear shaped and a gearbox being required in the end. Happy days.

Jeezo, that's some luck you're having. Stick on a lottery ticket, you're due some karma to balance this out :p

Thankfully you have it under warranty! If they give you a similar car, I would not be happy with the fab for long, then you will be putting miles on that rather than your own. Are your dealer charging you a weiver for insurance excess? That would soon add up. If they are then speak to your own insurance company and see if they will insure the courtesy car with it being an extended amount of time, and if that fails I would insist that Skoda cover the weiver which may speed up the resolution time too!

Mechatronic issues on the dsg are very common across the whole VAG range, and failure has a number of symptoms and can occur at any time. Because the issue is a common one getting spares is very difficult due to demand on the mechatronic.

As I said on the 10th June, I can see this going pear shaped - it has.

I had a call on the 18th June to say the mechatronic had arrived ahead of time - they would fit it on the 21st and it would be back on the 22nd.

Wrong answer - on the 23rd I got a call from Skoda to advise another hire car would be needed as there were issues! Now, firstly I have the dealers car, an Octavia Estate TSi, I presume 1.4 and a bigger bag of sh!te I have never had the misfortune to drive! Gutless piece of crap - no way would I ever consider an Octy if I was shown this.

Anyway, they were trying to arrange a hire car but therein lies an issue - I don't have a credit card so the hire company won't supply me a car and take payment from my company card !?! so I'm left with the wind up TSi!

On Friday last the dealer called and said my car needs a gearbox - surprise surprise and it will be 5 weeks.

Now my car is a lease car, leased from Skoda UK. I'm well pi$$ed at having to drive this joke of a car while what I'm paying for is not sitting where it should be. I'm debating calling them and asking what they are going to do about it, the lease ends in October and they'll soon have had the car as long as I have!!!!

Sent an email to VW FS customer services, I'm not paying for this pile of junk :o

Although your experiance is poor, it would be more relavant to us if we knew which dealer it was?

I've just read the bit about the hire car company re the credit card. I picked my car up after it broke down after a week and Skoda uk arranged for a hire car (new ford mondeo) from hertz (I think) and all I provided was a debit card in case of damage. When my car was ready after 3 days I arranged with the hire company to leave the car at the dealers.

I don't have a credit card either but all the hire company wanted was my debit card for the usual stuff associated with hire cars.

communication looks to have gone a bit wrong between skoda and the hire company.

The dealers aren't at fault here - Skoda is :(

Sorry but I would be bashing the dealer over the "its the ECU" cop out and the unfixed DSG and EML light, going to Skoda will just add dealer and more hassle or just find another dealer.

Been off on holiday with my half Octy VRS at my disposal.

New gear box, performing well.

No air con - again.

EML is on yet again!

Cruise control didn't work when I got it back but is now.

Bad vibration around 1500rpm - guess they've hung the engine on the exhaust while doing the box.

Can't even remember what else is wrong and tbh just want November to come around so I can change it!

Dealer is a let down. Skoda Finance more so.

It goes back in on Monday and I'm looking forward to see what they fob me off with this time!!!!
