How do you follow a car on a ship

Featured Replies

I have noticed people talking about following the ships from Emden, but how do you know which type of ship it will be on?

I now have the website marinetraffic.com.

Also, now that I have a delivery date for my car to dealer, how can get a build week - as supposedly the dealer could not tell me.

basically you are looking for the cargo ships named "highway" they are the car carriers

thanks for that.

Not just those ones though, in December there were "City of..." that were also car carriers and there'll probably be others as VW, Nissan etc just charter them, the shipping company then decides the most efficient route (the ones to Newcastle tend to drop off VAG at the VW terminal then hop over the river, pick up the newly built Nissans and take them to the continent). What I did was to find out what terminal/dock number the VW hub used to receive cars, then searched for ships between Emden and that terminal. On the website I used (can't remember but will be in an earlier post from mid-december 09) it said what the ship was used for (car transporter etc) and also had a real-time map of where it was.

EDIT: Here it is http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/139043-octavia-long-delivery-times/page__view__findpost__p__1825518
