Had my VRS not even a week and today the little spanner icon along with 'INSP' on the trip appeared indicating it needed a service. I found this a bit strange as the log book states that its last service was done only 3-4 months ago at 35100 miles. Its now done just over 41000. Is there something else wrong here or does it really need another service? :|

Your car may hve been serviced a little early when the indicator was not showing and this may be when the car should have been serviced (1 year or 10k after the previous one). Have a look in the log book to see when the previous one (2009) was done. Some garages do a service just before you collect the car when you buy it, however this is not the case.

If you are sure that it has been serviced (you could ring the garauge to check), there are ways to re-set this indicator. Do a search on here or look in your owners manual.

To reset the display manually, switch off the ignition, then press and hold down the trip reset button beneath the speedometer. switch on the ignition and observe the the service interval, the hold the button down for 10 seconds until '---' appears followed by the trip readout. If the 'OIL' and 'INSP' intervals were reached at the same time, depress the button again for 10 seconds to reset the remaining intervals.
