cant seem to remove a bird crap stain from my bumper on black magic paint.tried bug remover ,all purpose cleaner and a bird dropping cleaner but still a faint outline where its been. what can remove this ,will petrol remove it and would it damage the paint have used it on my van to remove tar spots with no damage

have you tried autogylm super resin polish and rubbed it quite hard or try of bottle of meguiars scratch x, the bird muck had probably etched into your paint work and needs something with a little bit of cut to get rid of it.

just tried ag srp still a faint mark on bird crap can have only been on 8 hours max it wasnt on this morning and i washed off at 17;00 don know what its been chomping on

What surface protection did you have prior the the bird s***?

A good sealer and wax offers a fair amount of protection.

I would get a good polish and it should remove all traces, then do the whole car followed by sealer and wax.. Primary care is the key

I had a similar issue with a rental car. In my case it was paint from a hit and run that was left streaked on the bumper. I used acetone and a wet cloth to wipe off the paint then rinsed with water so that the paint was not hurt. Not sure I would use it on my own car but it worked great at removing the paint and I think bird poop from a car. I also agree that using surface protection on the car would help. A good wax coating may have made clean up a little easier. http://buildsitepro.com/home.asp

I think AG do do some sort of intensive polish, try that. Just work it for about 5 mins with a foam pad.

A picture would help to give you an accurate response but for me if it's been on there for a while and the outline is still there then it may be beyond even normal machining and would need to be wetsanded out........... :|

As above :S This is known as etching and its when the acids in the poo has cut throught the layers of laquer on a microscopic level. Polish may start to lessen the problem and "blend" it with the surrounding paint, but if you know a man with a da polisher he may be able to totally remove it. A decent polish such as Meguiars or AG ultra deep shine on a good pad may cut it down. Don't use petrol ever or any thinners unless you can confirm the paints' history as you may do more damage than good.
