Hello from undecided !

Featured Replies

Hi from a not so sunny Edinburgh.

I think I am about to order a new Octavia estate (DSG) on a 3 year lease but have to admit to being more than a little confused by engine choice etc.

I think I want to go for the 2.0 diesel but nearly every quote I have got is for the 1.9 diesel which I have been told is / or is about to go out of production.

On the basis that it is likely the vehicle will be factory order this is why I am confused.

I have also read great things about the 1.4 engine but it just sounds a bit wee compared with the 1.8 and 2.0 ltr engines.

Any thought, comments, recommendations etc etc welcome.

PS ... Is the elegance trim worth going for versus the SE ??

Cant speak for the 1.9 engine or Elegance spec but can say that going from a VW Touran 2.0L PD140 Sport to a 2.0L CR VRS Estate has been a pleasant suprise indeed!

The 2.0l CR (Common Rail )is below 150co (comcar website) and is a peach of an engine and healthy upgrade from what I had previous.emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Welcome and you are in the right place to find some answers. Visit the Octavia forums. The 1.9TDI Octavia is superb (no...not a Skoda 'Superb' it's an Octavia still!). The PD engines are totally reliable over huge mileages if you have it service correctly at the dealers. Always use the specified oil...never waiver from that...it's important on the PD engines. I have a brother in law who has the Passat with the 2.0cr engine...that too is just amazing. Much quieter than the PD engine. In general you won't go wrong if you buy any of the diesels in the Octavia but my preference would be to go for one of the new CR engines...1.6 or 2.0ltr. Drive either one of these and you will see what I mean. The 1.6 is particularly perkey with massive torque.
