Noise from air box area

Featured Replies

Hi, After years of having a frustrating noise from around the air filter area, my local garage got to the bottom of it.

It was the join from air intake to the filter box itself. apparently these have a rubber grommet/o ring as a seal to connect the two pipe parts together, which are made of plastic, and the seal was totally perished, hence giving a high rattly noise on acceleration over 2000 revs.

My car is now a joy to drive, and I've turned the sterio down a bit as that used to mask the noise. total cost was just over £38, and worth every penny.

I'm posting this as in the past few years I've noticed fellow owners asking for advice, and quick fixes, so hope it gives another avenue to pursue in fault finding.

Many thanks to all the people who put me in the right area in the first place, as it sounded very exhaust manifold area initially, with obvious £££ implications.
