My Octavia VRS CD changer is going cuckoo... when i try and play a CD, the dispay flashes the word .... 'SURFACE'

What does this mean????????

think it means its not reading cd, try unplugging it/taking fuse out, leave it then reattach.

You have a dodgy CD.

Make sure the CD is clean and scratch free.

Or the changer has dirt in it, or the disk is in the wrong way around....

yup i should have said check the cd is clean, kinda guessed you might have done that already tho!

I have had this a few times, I just took out the magazine and put it back in again. I had it at one point where if I tried CD 6 it said mechanic and wouldnt let me use it until I reset the car.

Take the magazine out, blow in it with an air duster, then place a cleaning CD in one of the CD slots in the magazine and put it back in. Play the CD cleaner, then remove it and replace with a normal CD.

Job done
