is this turbo more powerful than the KKK one? does it go in as a direct fit? are the turbo hoses the same?

Garrett is rated better over the KKK..

They are usually 150 Spec

Make sure it fits your car some Fabia engine codes are ASZ /ARL

100% it with the Skoda Main Dealer give them your vin number and they should be able to tell you

The one you have seen in the link posted has the engine code ARL

Maybe somebody could explain the difference beetween ASZ/ARL?

Maybe somebody could explain the difference beetween ASZ/ARL?

The engine codes i.e. ASZ/ARL are the identification as to the stock output and emissions etc....... The information (that is a bit like rocking horse sh!t to find) is broken down like this:

1.9 TDI - 60 kW (90 PS)

OETTINGER Engine: ALH-G 1900 TDI

Engine Identification: ALH

Transmission: Manual

Drive: Front wheel drive

Fuel: Diesel, min. 49 CT

Emissions: D3

1.9 TDI - 81 kW (110 PS)

OETTINGER Engine: AHF / ASV-G 1900 TDI

Engine Identification: AHF / ASV

Transmission: 5 speed manual

Drive: Front wheel drive

Fuel: Diesel, min. 49 CT

Emissions: ASV: Euro 3 / AHF: Euro 2

1.9 TDI PD - 74 kW (100 PS)

OETTINGER Engine: AXR-1900 TDI PD

Engine Identification: AXR

Transmission: 5 speed manual

Drive: Front wheel drive

Fuel: Diesel, min. 49 CT

1.9 TDI PD - 96 kW (130 PS)

OETTINGER Engine: ASZ-G-1900 TDI

Engine Identification: ASZ

Transmission: 6-speed manual

Drive: Front wheel drive

Fuel: Diesel, min. 49 CT

Emissions: Euro 3

1.9 TDI PD - 110 KW (150 PS)

OETTINGER Engine: ARL-G 1900 TDI

Engine Identification: ARL

Transmission: 6-speed manual

Drive: Front wheel drive

Fuel: Diesel, min. 49 CT

Emissions: Euro 3

As you can see the ARL-G is a 150PS engine - not supplied in the vRS. This engine was used in the Golf GTTDI etc.....

The ARL is what I currently have fitted in the shifty mobile B)

The ARL and the ASZ are the only 6 speed transmission engines form the list.

Wasnt shifty the previous owner who did all the mods??

Wasnt shifty the previous owner who did some of (ahem!)the mods??

Give that man a banana! :p

It's called the shifty mobile because Dave spent over £14k building it, unbuilding it, rebuilding it, stripping it and rebuilding it again. The man was a legend around these parts as well as being completely insane behind the wheel. The shifty mobile was named so by another forum member and will remain the SHIFTY mobile as long as I own it!

Apologies for taking the post back on topic ;) but that will fit your car, It will not give you any more power per se but it has more potential and factor of safety, to make use of the turbo powerwise you will need to have the car mapped accordingly, but it will still run fine on the standard map.

The only issue with that turbo is that it will require to be re-clocked, an easy job of loosening several screws and rotating the cold side housing so it meets up with your pipework and re tightening the screws.
