Troublesome car

Featured Replies

I've had a number of issues with my fabia over the year, in the past i've had a new cat installed, changed the EGR valve but still find it a rough runner. Currently having issues getting the thing started.

Current engine codes are

Fabia 1.4 16v

Engine Codes

P0118 Engine Coolant Temp.Circ High Input 16502

P1142 Load Calculation Cross Check Lower Limit Exceeded 17550

P1196 O2 Sensor Heater Circ.,Bank1-Sensor1 Electrical Malfunction 17604

SRS Codes

P1746 Transmission Control Module Relay - Supply Voltage (B+) Malfunction Low Battery or Bad Ground 00532

Plan of action as it stands is change the thermostat for the the coolent system. Thinking this as the temperature sensor takes forever to come to life and the car starts fine in the morning (not 100% true) but tend to have more trouble restarting after trips to the shops or a day at work.

What peoples thougths on what the issue is?

Do a cross check of the fault codes on Ross Tech site. Quite often, several different codes can be traced back to one component, usually a relay.

Just an educated guess, but rough running and difficulty starting would both be symptoms of the coolant sensor giving up.. often intermittently, so would go with your diagnosis.
